Paying your Rent
Your first responsibility as a tenant is to pay your rent on the first of the month. Each month, you’ll get an email with your account statement. Even if you don’t receive the email, you're still responsible for getting your rent paid by the first of the month.
Method of payment
The following are accepted ways to pay your rent:
- Online
- Cheque
- Cash
- Debit
Online
How it’s done:
Via the website of your Canadian banking institution:
- You must add the beneficiary Universite Laval (without accent)
- Then choose Résidences-Loyer and put the reference number provided on the account statement (this is unique for the entire duration of your stay)
- You can then make a payment for this supplier
Via the CIBC platform for international students:
- You can pay by bank card or credit card
- You must put the reference number provided on the account statement (this is unique for the entire duration of your stay) in the Service des résidences customer number field
There may be a delay of 4 or 5 business days before the Service des résidences receives your payment.
By cheque
Make cheques payable to Université Laval and include the reference number from your statement. You can drop it in the «Résidences» mail chute in your residence.
A $30 fee will be charged for an NSF cheque.
Cash or debit
Come to Reception and service desk to pay your rent in cash or by debit.
Default of payment
Université Laval’s admission and registration fee rules (in French) state that your transcript and degree will be withheld until all outstanding rent in residence has been paid in full. The Service des résidences sends a list of students with unpaid rent to Financial Services.
